Emily Gaitan Receives Outstanding Volunteer Award

As the Thanksgiving day holiday draws near, The MuttShack Animal Rescue Foundation realizes that there’s a lot to be thankful for – like Miss Emily Gaitan, one of their newest volunteers. The MuttShack held a special event to thank Emily for all her hard work. Emily, a 13 year old student, has already shown extraordinary commitment to the plight of dogs rescued from area kill shelters.

Emily has racked up an average of 20 volunteer hours a week over the last couple of months and has herself found homes for four dogs just within her own family circle. Four dogs that, thanks to Emily, will now live their lives with loving families, in warm beds and with all the creature comforts they deserve.

This Halloween, she even dressed up as the “Red MuttShack Bus” and used every costume explanation as an opportunity to talk about homeless dogs and the MuttShack wish for a red bus that would take homeless dogs to high traffic fun festivals and events for adoption.

MuttShack honored this young lady yesterday with a small celebration, a Special Certificate of Recognition and a bevy of gifts including enough movie tickets to take her whole family out to catch some holiday flicks!

“Her commitment to our mission and dedication to our rescue dogs inspires all of us. ” Said Amanda St John. Founder of MuttShack Animal Rescue.

MuttShack Animal Rescue operations saved 364 dogs so far this year and is well on its way to saving at least one dog a day every day this year.
